Blackjack ABC’s – Part One

The basic premise of the game is to be assigned cards adding up to twenty one. Each gambler is given two cards. When a blackjack player is given a nine or lower value card and an Ace they have been dealt a soft hand. When the blackjack player is dealt no Ace cards it is referred to as a hard hand. As soon as the cards have been handed to every player at the table, including the dealer, every black jack player is given the chance to make one of 6 decisions:

Requesting another card (Hit): When a player says hit me the croupier will deal them another card, if the adding of that card causes the value of the hand to exceed twenty one the gambler will have lost and that’s the end of the game, if the card pushes the total to twenty-one the blackjack player will be the winner and if the total hasn’t yet reached twenty one they are still in the game.

Keeping the hand you’ve been dealt: If a black jack player is happy with the cards they will stand. As soon as this has happened the croupier will disclose his or her hand and the player who has gotten twenty one or the closet to twenty-one will acquire a win.

Doubling Down: A player may ask to double down which increases the wager by one hundred percent they have laid. Once you’ve taken this action you can only be given one more card. The specifics of doubling down are usually out lined by the blackjack table or betting house game rules so before playing be certain you’re comfortable with the casino established rules. If you’re wagering at an internet betting house this is usually quite easy.
